Our Research and Development Engineer will be responsible for working on new medical device products and the associated processes. The candidate will operate in a quality managed system and follow design control practices. Responsibilities:

  • Medical Technology/Product development

  • Process development

  • SOP development

  • Interface and collaboration with suppliers and contract manufacturing organizations

  • Interaction with third parties providing analytical testing and characterization services

  • Physical, mechanical, chemical, biological, and morphological characterizations and testing of medical devices

  • Data and statistical analysis and synthesis

  • Maintenance of detailed laboratory notebook

  • Assistance in designing experiments

  • Identification and establishment of relationships with key suppliers for R&D and production

  • Participation in interdisciplinary groups for R&D and Product Development

  • Liaising with engineering, research, medical, technical and/or production staff

  • Supervising junior staff including technicians

  • Writing technical reports, SOP, product specifications, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications.

  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields

  • Minimum of 3 years of R&D or product development experience (medical device, biopharma, or regenerative medicine product companies a plus)

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Detailed oriented record keeping and technical documentation

  • Strong analytical, creative, and decision making skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as interacting with multidisciplinary teams

  • Working knowledge of ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR 820

  • Proficiency in data and statistical analysis, and data synthesis skills

  • Experience with biomaterial preparation, characterization, mechanical and morphological testing

  • Supervisory experience
